What are API credits?
API credits are our payment system for transcriptions. Each transcription costs credits based on the model size, speaker diarization features, and file size. You can purchase credits anytime and use them whenever you need transcriptions.
Wait, what do you mean by "model size"?
Think of a model as training data for our transcription service. A large model is trained on more data and will therefore transcribe your audio more accurately. However, due to its large dataset, transcriptions take slightly longer. A small model is trained on a smaller dataset. Although faster, transcriptions may not be as accurate as the large model size.
So how do you know how many credits you'll consume?
When you upload a file, you get a modal window like the image below with the largest model selected by default. You can choose between any of the model sizes and see the exact credit cost before confirming your transcription.
How do credit costs work?
Credit costs are calculated as follows:
- Small/Medium models: 1 credit per transcription
- Large models: 2 credits per transcription
- Speaker diarization: +2 credits per transcription
- File size: +1 credit per GB over 1GB (first GB is free)
Example 1: Large model + speaker diarization + 3GB file = 6 credits total (2 + 2 + 2)
Example 2: Medium model + 1GB file = 1 credit total
Do API credits expire?
No, API credits never expire. Once purchased, you can use them at any time without worrying about an expiration date.
How long do you keep my audio/video files?
We automatically delete all uploaded files after 24 hours. Only the transcription text is retained in your account. This helps ensure your data privacy while still giving you access to your transcriptions.
I'm not a developer. Can I still use the service?
Yes, our service can be used in the browser without any coding required. Simply upload your audio or video file, and we'll transcribe it for you!
What file formats do you support?
We support most common audio and video formats including MP3, WAV, MP4, M4A, and more. Files can be up to 10GB in size with a Pro subscription.
How accurate are the transcriptions?
Our service uses OpenAI's Whisper model, which achieves 99%+ accuracy for clear audio in supported languages. Accuracy may vary based on audio quality, background noise, and accents.
What languages are supported?
We support 98+ languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, and many more. The service automatically detects the spoken language.
